The West Milford Heritage Committee consists of a 17 member committee appointed by the local Governing Body. The Committee generally meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 at the West Milford Museum.
Made up of volunteers from the community, the West Milford Heritage Committee was established by resolution in 1985 to plan and implement the building’s restoration, archive collections, and oversee the Museum operations. The West Milford Museum opened in 2000 following extensive renovations to the building and site, and is located at 1477 Union Valley Road, West Milford NJ 07480.
For more than three decades, the Heritage Committee collaborated with architects, contractors, and professionals to implement plans for the building’s interior and exterior renovations. The Committee continues to collect, archive, and display historic artifacts and documents, as well provide programs highlighting West Milford’s unique history.
Numerous fundraising events have been coordinated by the Heritage Committee to generate funds to supplement the renovations and to operate the Museum. The largest and most successful venture had been the annual benefit tennis tournaments which many local businesses, organizations and individuals supported and sponsored for 25 years, making it possible to complete several capital improvement projects.
