The abundance of cattail, tussock sedge and bulrush provide excellent habitat for wildlife. Wetlands are the home to many species of birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammals as well as refuge for migrating birds. On the other side of the cattails, just out of view is a small pond, still another habitat that supports ducks and other waterfowl. Muskrats and beaver have, at one time or another, taken up residence in the wetland.
