On January 26, 2012 following a traffic stop on Gold Finch Lane, Sarah VanDunk, Hewitt, age 25 was found to be in possession o f 47 bags of heroin.  VanDunk was charged with possession with intent to distribute and possession of CDS pending a future Court date.  Investigating officers were Detective Frank Elia and Detective Michael Malfetti. 
On February 2, 2012 Det. Sgt. Robert Congleton, Det. Michael Malfetti and P.O. Jill Brickman assisted Wayne Police in serving an active warrant on April Kowal, Wayne, age 31.  She was believed to be staying at a location in West Milford.  The warrant was for theft and her bail as $10,000.  When the officers arrived at the West Milford location April was arrested without incident.  While April Kowal was at West Milford Police Headquarters waiting for Wayne PD to respond to pick her up, Det. Michael Malfetti observed glassine bags in her open pocketbook.  She was found to have 7 bags of heroin and 2 bags of crack cocaine in her possession.  April was charged with 2 counts of possession of heroin and crack cocaine.  She was released on summons pending a future court date.
On February 2, 2012 Paoletta Giannetta, Wayne, age 27 and Patrick Giannetta, Wayne, age 32 were charged with 24 counts of obtaining CDS by fraud.  They were both released on separate $50,000 cash bonds and will be arraigned in West Milford Municipal Court.  Det. Eric Darnsteadt investigated.
On February 9, 2012 Lisa Lubrano, West Milford, age 21 was arrested on an active warrant out of Prospect Park for $500 by Det. Michael Malfetti, Det. Eric Darnsteadt and P.O. Stephen Herzog.  Lubrano was found to have a hypodermic syringe and 2 bags of heroin.  Lubrano was transported to West Milford Police Headquarters and arrested for possession of hypodermic syringe and 2 glassine bags containing suspected heroin residue.  She was processed and held until Prospect Park Police transferred her to Passaic County Jail. 
On February 21, 2012 members of the West Milford PD Detective Bureau, Special Operations Unit, and the Montclair State University K9 Officer Commero along with K9 “Max” executed a search warrant on the home of Cne Dibella.  Recovered from Cne’s bedroom was: 100 Oxycodone tablets (street value of $3,000) and over $3400 in cash. 
Cne was charged with possession of CDS and Possession with intent to distribute.  Bail was set at $10,000.  Bail was posted and Cne was released pending a future court date in West Milford Municipal Court.

On November 22, 2011 the West Milford Police Department and the US Postal Service Police conducted an investigation into suspicious packages addressed to Thomas F. Imbriale, Hewitt, Age 28.  Thomas was confronted at the Hewitt Post Office after picking up a package, which contained marijuana.  He was charged with Possession of Marijuana (10 lbs) with a street value of $40,000-$50,000.  Bail was set at $75,000.  He was given the ability to make bail arrangements and was released on bond. 
Det. Eric Darnsteadt and Det. Sgt. Robert Congleton were the investigating Officers.
On December 29, 2011 the West Milford Police were advised of a burglary to a residence on Morsetown Road.  Detective Eric Darnstead and Detective John Pesenti responded to the scene and observed the front door to have been kicked in and entered.  A total of approximately $9,000 worth of jewelry was stolen.
Shaun J. Wilkerson, Paterson, age 27 and Michael A. Stewart, Fairlawn, Age 41 were charged with Burglary and Theft and remanded to Passaic County jail on $250,000 bail.

On February 23, 2012 at 0121 hours, a West Milford Police Patrol Car struck a pedestrian on Union Valley Road. Preliminary investigation has determined that the pedestrian, who is identified as John Donovan, Age 53 of Wayne, NJ was walking south in an unlit area of Union Valley Road. A Patrol Car driven by PO Andrew Petrucelli was traveling south on Union Valley Road. As the officer approached the pedestrian, who was in the lane of travel, he was struck with the left side view mirror of the patrol vehicle.
Mr. Donovan had complaint of pain and abrasions and was transported to Chilton Memorial Hospital by the West Milford First Aid Squad. PO Petrucelli was not injured as a result of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the West Milford Police Crash Investigation Unit.

On February 13, 2012 at 0641 West Milford Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash with injuries on Greenwood Lake Turnpike. Police Officers Yarnall and Snook were the first responding officers on the scene and determined that the incident was a head-on crash involving two vehicles.
The sole occupant of  a 2006 Dodge Pickup that had been traveling north on Greenwood Lake Turnpike, Jacob J. Corter, Age 50 of Ringwood, NJ was out of his vehicle and alert. The sole occupant of the second vehicle, William S. Pitts, Age 54 of Vernon, NJ, who was operating a 2009 Toyota traveling south on Greenwood Lake Turnpike, was trapped inside the vehicle.  Officers had to force entry into the vehicle and found Mr. Pitts to be unresponsive. Officers removed Mr. Pitts from the vehicle and initiated C.P.R.
West Milford First Aid Squad Ambulance #49 responded to the scene along with Chilton Hospital Paramedic Unit #901. Mr. Pitts was then transported to Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pequannock, NJ where he was pronounced deceased.
At this time, the crash remains under investigation by the West Milford Police Crash Investigation Unit and the Passaic County Prosecutors Office.

_On January 22, 2012 at 1018 hours West Milford Police responded to State Route #23 North in the area of Germantown Road on a report of a one-vehicle motor vehicle crash. PO Robert Kulawiak and PO Shannon Sommerville responded and arrived at the scene. PO Kulawiak was the first on the scene and was in the process of investigating the crash. PO Sommerville then arrived on the scene had taken up a position in the right lane, to the rear of the crash scene and had emergency lights activated.  As PO Sommerville was exiting his patrol vehicle, it was struck from behind by a 2002 Ford Focus, operated by Kathleen M. Clark, Age 45, of Hewitt, NJ.
PO Sommerville sustained injury and was transported to Chilton Memorial Hospital where he was treated and later released. Ms. Clark was not injured in the crash.
Both vehicles were disabled as result of the crash and towed from the scene.
Ms. Clark was issued a summons for Careless Driving.

On 01-05-12 at 1505 hours, West Milford Police received a report of a motor vehicle crash on Echo Lake Road in the Township. It was reported that the only vehicle involved had struck a guide rail and the female driver may be having a medical emergency. First responding officers arrived on the scene and assessed the situation. The driver of the vehicle later identified as Heather A. Devenuto, age 35, of Denville, NJ, had crashed her vehicle, a 2005 Honda Pilot, into the guide rail. It appeared to officers that the driver may have been under the influence of some type of substance. The driver refused to comply with officers’ instructions to exit the vehicle and fled the scene.
Lieutenant John Matarese, PO Jason Lowenfeld and PO Nick Snook pursued the vehicle as it headed east on Echo Lake Road and then north on Macopin Road. The vehicle was brought to a stop on Macopin Road after it struck another vehicle and a patrol vehicle. The driver was taken into custody and placed under arrest and in the process bit PO Andrew Petrucelli in the arm. She is charged with: Driving While Intoxicated, Resisting Arrest, Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Eluding a Law Enforcement Officer and numerous motor vehicle violations.
Bail was set by the Honorable Judge Joseph Perconti at $25,000., the defendant was remanded to Passaic County Jail, Paterson, NJ.
