Job Title:             Assistant Day Camp Director – Bubbling Springs Day Camp

Department:        Department of Community Services and Recreation                                       

Reports To:         Day Camp Director

Status:                 P/T – Seasonal 

Schedule:            Approximately 40 hours per week – up to 10 weeks

 

  1. Responsibilities:   Under supervision, manages seasonal Day Camp employees.

 

  1. Physical Demands and Working Conditions

      Outdoors –80%   Office – 20%   

     

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, talk, hear, sit, and balance. 
  • Ability to regularly use hands to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls and to reach with hands and arms.  
  • Routinely must lift, move and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. 
  • Must be able to endure temperatures ranging from cool to extreme heat.

 

  1. Essential Functions

  2. Assign and delegate staff duties to meet program participants’ needs and goals.

  3. Plan activities for each upcoming week to assure a steady flow of events that promote program consistency.

  4. Under supervision, manages the day-to-day operations of Bubbling Springs Day Camp during its seasonal operation.

  5. Document injuries and incidents on appropriate forms provided by the Township.Reports all incidents to the Day Camp Director within 24 hours.

  6. Ensure records of program participants are kept up to date and maintained in a confidential file.

  7. Assure participants of the Bubbling Springs Day Camp program receive the correct dosage of medication at the prescribed time, administered through the Camp Nurse.

  8. Assure each participant adheres to their dietary restrictions and requirements.

     

  9. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  10. Ability to assist in instructional tasks.

  11. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, associates and the public.

  12. Ability to utilize computers, relevant software, phones and other types of electronic or manual office equipment.

  13. Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties of this position.American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.

     

  14. Education, Experience and Special Requirements

 

Education/Experience:  Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Leisure Services or similar field is required.  The successful candidate will have a minimum two years supervisory experience working with children in an educational or child-care facility. 

 

Special Requirements:  A driver’s license valid in the state of New Jersey.  Reliable transportation is required.  All applicants must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background check. CPR, AED, and First Aid certification is required
