HEAD SWIM TEAM COACH

 

Reporting to and under the direction of the Recreation Director, this position is responsible for the management and administration of all aspects of the Swim Team in adherence to the policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Township of West Milford.     

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years’ experience in aquatics as well as within a competitive swim team type setting in a coaching role. 
  • Required to have a current Red Cross WSI certificate as well as First Aid, CPR & AED Certification.
  • Ability to conduct swim lessons and perform water type rescues if needed. 
  • Able to sit or stand for entire shift
  • Able to work independently
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Available for all practices and meets for the entire season.

            Responsibilities:

  • The Swim Team Coach must plan a program, which is both instructional and competitive.

  • He or she will devise daily practice sessions to develop proficiency in all competitive swimming strokes.

  • The Coach will also make certain that appropriate volunteers are on hand to help with each of the home meets and will schedule buses for the away meets. 
  • Have prompt attendance at all scheduled workouts and swim meets.
  • Determine all individual and relay events for athletes at swim meets; or review those selected by assistant coaching staff.
  • Help with setup and break down of swim meets and practices.
  • Maintain daily attendance records for all training groups.
  • Ensure program quality is consistent with the values and expectations set forth accordingly.
  • Respond to queries regarding the team from parents.
  • Work in conjunction with parent volunteers to organize and run meets.Will organize and schedule meets within the conference as well as attend required meetings for participation in the league.The coach will ensure that accurate attendance records are kept by the assistants, procure appropriate ribbons for meets, order trophies or designated awards and plan end of the season picnic or awards ceremony.Must have a flexible schedule to coincide with the practices and meets.

Salary: $20.00 per hour
