C.A.S.A., West Milford’s Community Against Substance Abuse is a community based organization with a mission to develop and implement plans and programs on a continuing basis that will reduce alcoholism, violence and drug abuse in the township.
C.A.S.A. Resource List
Through a grant from the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, the generous support of West Milford’s residents and local businesses, C.A.S.A. implements a broad spectrum of programs which target a variety of age groups.
West Milford’s Community Against Substance Abuse was organized in 1989 by merging with the West Milford Youth and Family Counseling Committee. The Committee was made up of representatives from the Township, the Board of Health, the Board of Education, a Certified Alcohol Abuse Counselor and members from the community. The Municipal Alliance Steering Committee was developed and began to implement prevention programs focusing on the needs of West Milford. A grant from the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, enabled the committee to expand programs and develop new strategies in the fight against substance abuse. C.A.S.A. continues to grow and welcomes new members.
The success of C.A.S.A. is due to the commitment of our volunteers. We welcome and encourage West Milford residents to join C.A.S.A. Meetings are held at the West Milford Public Library usually on the 2nd Monday of the following months at 7:00 PM: January, February, March, May, June, August, September and November. Meeting dates are also published in local newspapers.
