To schedule an inspection call 973-728-2780 Monday through Friday between 8:30 A.M and 4:30 P.M. Call only when work is ready for inspections and give at least 24 hours notice prior to the time inspection is needed. Have the following information ready; Permit #, block and lot, owners name, address and type of inspection.
Inspections are performed on the following days:
Building: Monday – Friday
Plumbing: Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Electrical: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
Fire Protection: Monday, Wednesday and Friday
New Buildings – Additions – Renovations
Building
Footing- Prior to placing concrete.
Foundation- Prior to backfilling.
Slab- Basement slab prior to pouring concrete (Residential construction requires 4” of crushed stone, a 6 mil vapor barrier and one radon vent pipe for every 1500 sq ft of floor area.)
Modulars- Requires a "Set" inspection after the boxes have been set to check connections and site installed components.
Framing- After building is framed and sheathed.
Insulation
Final- After everything is complete.
Plumbing
Rough- After plumbing has been roughed, pressure testes are required on all water, drain and gas lines.
Building sewer- Prior to backfilling.
Final- After everything is complete.
Electrical
Rough- After rough wiring has been installed.
Service- Prior to electric company hooking up service.
Final- After everything is complete.
Fire Protection
Rough Fireplace- After hearth and smoke camber have been completed but before any flue tile have been set or after unit and chimney pipe have been installed , for prefab fireplaces, but before anything is covered.
Final- Smoke detector test.
