Established by Resolution and re-established each year to work on the renovation of the designated Township museum site; to gather, catalog and store records, photographs, artifacts and historical materials for museum; to oversee the operation of the and scheduling of the museum. The West Milford Heritage Committee is a 17 member advisory committee to the Township Council, consisting of fifteen citizen members, one Township Council member, and one staff member.  The Heritage Committee was formed in 1985 for the purpose of preserving local history through the establishment of a Township museum.  The Town Hall Annex building was designated as a museum site in the 1980’s and the Heritage Committee members collected artifacts, raised funds for the project, enlisted volunteers, and supervised the renovations in the circa 1860’s building.  The Heritage Committee oversees all museum operations and voluntarily staffs the museum every Saturday and during special events.  The Committee members are responsible for collecting/cataloging artifacts, preparing exhibits, researching local history, as well as hosting lectures, supervising interns and volunteers, and conducting special tours for local schools and Scouts.  The Heritage Committee holds its regular meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm at the West Milford Museum.  For more information about the Heritage Committee, visit the museum’s official website at www.WestMilfordMuseum.org or email [email protected].
